New drummer!

Please join us in welcoming our new drummer, Kyle Rasmussen!

Kyle filled in for us on a run of dates in the Fall, and we were beyond impressed with his work ethic, power behind the kit, and energy on stage.  Kyle brings a ton of experience, having previously played with bands like Phantom Glue, Phenomenal Sun, and Black Thai, among others. His deep roots in the Boston music scene make him the perfect fit for Cortez, and we are stoked to hit the stage with him and get to work on new music.

Kyle’s first show with us will be in late July, and we’ll have an update on that in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming shows and our forthcoming album.

Doomsmas was an absolute blast!

There was lots of raging and tons of shredding. HUGE thanks to Robo and the staff at the Marigold Theater for making us feel at home. It was awesome to share the stage with Evil80, Strange Highways, and Black Pyramid. We were sad to miss the Benthic Realm folks, as they weren’t able to play due to illness.

We saw so many good Western, MA friends, thanks for making it a night to remember!

Burn On The Bayou review

Check out this sweet review of the CCR tribute we are on.

“Cortez follows this by picking the less known Gloomy. While they move at the same pace as the previous track, they emphasize the doom, and it fairly crushes.”

We’ll take that!
