Recording

Just a quick update…

Earlier this week we went in to Mad Oak Studios in Allston, MA to record a song with engineer extraordinaire Benny Grotto (Lo Pan, Sasquatch, Gozu) for an upcoming release. We can’t quite let the details out just yet but we are very excited about it. We will have more information in the near future.

New press photos

We’ve uploaded three new press photos that accurately portray the five piece lineup. These were taken by our good friend Bruce Bettis. He did an amazing job as always. Check them out on the Press Kit page.

New live video – Johnny

Here’s the opening song from our live set at Radio in Somerville, MA on April 26, 2013. Featuring a surprise introduction by Mr. Darryl Sheppard (Black Pyramid, The Scimitar, Blackwolfgoat).

video by Craig Harrison

“Cortez closed out the night by just unleashing a set of heavy fucking rock in the vein of Unida. That’s really the best comparison I can even possibly make, honestly. It’s on that level. If people don’t want to acknowledge it, it’s their loss. These tunes are rock solid, and the band delivering them is top notch. Heavy melodic riff rock at its absolute finest. Listen or be a dolt, it’s up to you. Yeah, heavy rock is fine. Nothing to fucking worry about here.” – Darryl Sheppard

New live video – The High Life

Craig Harrison was kind enough to record our set at Radio in Somerville, MA on April 26 and to send us a copy of the video. Over the next few months we will be uploading the whole set one video per week. The first upload is “The High Life” from our first EP Thunder In A Forgotten Town. It’s hard to believe that this song is seven years old. In fact it is the first song that we wrote together as Cortez. Enjoy.

Cortez update

A quick update on the state of Cortez…

First, we now have a limited amount of new copies of our Self Titled double LP for sale. These babies are on 180 gram black vinyl with a gatefold cover. Check our bandcamp page to preview the LP and to purchase your very own copy.

Second, we’ve been holed up in the Cortez bunker hard at work on songs for the next album. We’ve demoed seven new tunes so far with a few more coming in the next couple of months. We may put a few snippets up on our Facebook/Twitter/Youtube pages in the not too distant future.

Third, we spent the evening driving around the city of Boston with our man, photographer extraordinaire Bruce Bettis taking some new photos of the five piece lineup. We figure that it’s high time that our newest member Alasdair is actually included in the photos!

Keep checking back for more info.
