Thanks to the folks at Maximum Volume Music for the stellar review of “Sell The Future”!“”Sell The Future” is neither the past, present or future of rock n roll, but I’ll tell you what “No Escape” probably is: the best single track of 2020, that’s what. Like someone brought “(Gotta Get Some Action) Now!” by the Hellacopters in and made it more of a riffer. Oh and added cowbell. Now, I guess I am supposed to tell you about who plays what (and Scott O’Dowd and Alasdair Swan are playing the axes) but you know what? Remember when you were a kid and all you cared about was the way it made you feel ? That’s this. Its brilliant.”

‘Thunder In A Forgotten Town’ featured on The Obelisk’s Friday Full-Length

Firing up the way back machine… JJ at The Obelisk revisits our first EP from 2007.

“Proof positive that Cortez didn’t just end up a kickass heavy rock band, but in fact they started that way. Of course, the Boston five-piece were a much different band 13 years ago when they made their debut with the Thunder in a Forgotten Town EP in 2007. I remember (vaguely) the release piqued my interest because they were an American band releasing through a European label — Belgium’s Buzzville Records — which didn’t happen nearly as often in those days, and once I got a copy, I would’ve had to work hard not to dig it.”
