Cortez signs with Bilocaton Records

Massachusetts stoner rockers CORTEZ have inked a deal with German label BILOCATION RECORDS for the vinyl release of their long awaited, self titled full length. The double LP will be released this Spring on high quality vinyl. “Cortez” was recorded by Ethan Dussault (Cave In, Black Thai, Morne, Tides, Caspian) at New Alliance Audio in Cambridge, MA. The gatefold cover artwork and layout was created by renowned artist, Alexander von Wieding (Nuclear Assault, Monster Magnet, Karma To Burn, Suplecs).

Cortez’s previous album, “Thunder In A Forgotten Town”, was released in 2007 via Belgium’s Buzzville Records.

Website news / LP update

We finally got around to doing some maintenance on the ‘ol website. First, we switched hosting companies because our old host was slow and had frequent outages which were basically rendering the site next to useless. Second we added every show that we have ever played to the gig database. That brought back some memories! You can check ’em out for yourself on the shows page. Third, we added a show poster archive on the photos page. We plan to try and add some more content in the coming weeks so please check back.

In other news, the long overdue self titled Cortez album is on it’s way shortly. We have struck a deal to have it released on double LP! We will have some more details for everyone soon.

Cancellation

We have had to drop off of the show with Black Helicopter at Radio due to Scott injuring his hand and being unable to play the guitar. We’re extremely bummed but unfortunately we have no other option.

Next show

We are playing with The Scrooges on Friday 12/16 at Radio in Somerville. If you haven’t seen The Scrooges you’re in for a treat. They are an Iggy & the Stooges cover band dressed like six demented Santas. They feature members of Cropduster, Cortez, Black Thai, Cult 45, Lamont and Rock City Crimewave.

We will also have some news regarding the release of the new Cortez album shortly. Keep checking back for more info.
